Practice Philosophy

My practice focuses on the body’s ability to heal itself. Using a non-invasive approach to healing, I help guide individuals toward becoming more aware of stressors and triggers of tension in the body. Together, we transform pain and discomfort with a renewed sense of discovery, hope, and possibility. My mission is to offer a clean, comfortable and private environment while providing you with the safest means of acupuncture and integrative care.

In addition to helping my patients achieve their goal of living healthy, pain-free lives, I also specialize in Pain Management, Reproductive Health, Facial Rejuvenation, Stress Management and Preventative Care.

Biography and Education

As a fourth-generation Iowan, I was reared in a family filled with doctors, nurses, and dentists. Attracted to both the arts and the sciences, I graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering in the Spring of 2000, achieving degrees in computer science, mathematics, design and Japanese.

I lived and worked in Japan during my undergraduate study. It was during this time that I was first exposed to non-Western medicine philosophies. After completing my engineering degree, I joined Apple Computer in Cupertino, California. Several years thereafter my interests were redirected toward medicine.

In 2003 I began working in integrative medical clinics in Seattle and later in Philadelphia. I trained at the nationally acclaimed Bastyr University in Seattle and Tri State College of Acupuncture in New York City. I completed a three-year Masters of Science in Acupuncture in May of 2007. Now, almost 30 years later, I’ve returned to my roots here in Iowa City. I’m joined by my husband, Jonathan, a resident at UIHC, and our faithful dog, Cosby. When not working with patients, I enjoy growing and eating my homegrown tomatoes, improving my painting and drawing skills, and jogging through City Park with Cosby.
