About Rachel Weissman, BAS MS LAc EAMP

I grew up in a family filled with doctors, nurses, and dentists. Attracted to both the arts and the sciences, I graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering, achieving degrees in computer science, mathematics, design and Japanese.

During my undergraduate studies, I lived and worked in Japan. It was here where I was first exposed to non-Western medicine philosophies. After completing my engineering degree, I joined Apple Computer in Cupertino, California. Several years thereafter my interests were redirected toward medicine.

I trained at the nationally acclaimed Bastyr University in Seattle and Tri State College of Acupuncture in New York City and completed my degree, a Masters of Science in Acupuncture. I owned and ran a busy integrative clinic in Iowa City for seven years, working closely with the University of Iowa and VA Hospitals.

After nearly twenty years, I’ve returned to my roots in the Pacific Northwest, joined by my husband and three children. I serve as an adjunct faculty and doctoral program instructor member at Bastyr University. I also offer private courses in Integrative Pain Management, Trigger Point Theories and Techniques, Gua Sha and Essential Oils for East Asian Medicine.

I love a good urban hike, exploring the North Cascades with my family, cooking with homegrown tomatoes and herbs, sharpening my sewing skills and home improvement projects.
